At last! My mate has just phoned to say there is a local TREC on March 14 and she wants to do it in a team with me.
We're going hors concours as we are both ATE but she wants to do the baby one as she has a new horse who is not superfit and Paco is fat so it suits us fine. So we'll do the 12km only and then the baby PTV - just as well, as P hates with a passion the place we're going to. Last time we were there we won the POR and then he threw a monumental wobbly in front of every obstacle ... and the water ... well, he was abominable.
I've signed up the teenager too so if R is coming there won't be any problem about loading P!!!

Not true BB! I'd swap P for Ben any day - sounds like after just one outing he is more chilled than P!
Actually it's not the obstacles that freak P out at this place, it's the judges. Normally they stand somewhere near but this PTV is so huge they have a judge or two sitting/standing next to each one and it's that that terrifies P. I've always found it very odd that he is very anxious to see walkers on a path, for instance, than to have a helicopter land next to him. I think, as a baby, he must have had a very bad experience with people - and he does have that big scar on his back ......
Anyway, mutual good vibes I think!!! ;D

I think that's about right Rac. Mutual vibes. Good luck with it.. But sorry to hear about Paco's back...I didn't know he had been abused or whatever. Poor boy... Thank God he now has you but yes I can imagine bad memories are still lurking somewhere in the background. Bless him. Ben, according to his former owner, had a habit of running out at xc jumps if the judges were too close. But I doubt if we'll ever get to do them so it shouldn't bother me!! But I told her about the tarpaulin and she is amazed he walked over it...must be getting mellow in his old age....

We're set for Sunday but having trouble signing up . It's an official one so it has to be done through the FFE on line and my chum (who, admittedly, is a bit of a divvie ) can't seem to get it to recognise the boys' ID numbers. I've just tried and it was faultless...... so I'd better get down there and see what is going on .....

Tch, how annoying!!
When you say faultless does that mean logging on to the official site was ok or that you have managed to register now?
I hope you have got it sorted Rac, good luck with it!!! After your dressage win this weekend it should put you and P in a good frame of mind.

Well of course this being freakin France it's not sorted Naturally it's R's papers that are causing the problem - it seems they need to be 'verified' as he was young (three) when he got them and they need to be sure he hasn't changed significantly since then. No, he's not turned purple or grown to 17h2. But we know the organiser and he's being flexible, thank goodness. It's only that the FFE is involved otherwise it's not a problem. And because it's official I have to get new 'fit for it' medical certificates this week. Just as well I'm mates with my GP (she has a lovely TB). And our licences haven't turned up, although I can print them off on-line..... blurry French ......

Well, the paperwork seems more or less sorted except that we now have to go HC - my friend's horse's papers are not in order. And we have a nasty early morning start: we are due on the PTV (before the POR, unusually, but to my relief as Paco doesn't like this course and I'd rather get it over with) at 9am so will have to hack the horses over there tomorrow evening and put them in a temporary enclosure overnight. We'll box the horses back home on Sunday night. Only one slight niggle now: my friend's horse will not tolerate being behind. Could be interesting between him and R, who also likes to be in front. Luckily P is happy anywhere, although I shall be the one map-reading .... Have a feeling this is going to be a day of thingy-ups and catastophes ....

Have a feeling this is going to be a day of thingy-ups and catastophes .... t'would be what the kelly marks trec was today then!!!!!! i was the only one doing my job right (adding up the scores that the others gave me, in an office on my own) yet i was the one that the angry peed off competitors yelled at. i was yelled at because one womans horse reined back 50m down the control of paces corridor and she didnt get a mark for it - she was supposed to canter!!!!!!
