It looks like a Neue Schule Tranz Beval. They seem to be quite popular with ponies in the show ring nowadays. Here's an extract about the bit and could give a reason as to why the pony was wearing it.
A good choice if you need more control than an ordinary snaffle. This bit has a mild lever action which causes the cheeks to tilt forwards and the mouthpiece to lift up. The horse feels the poll pressure and the upward action of the bit within the mouth at the same time. It is very effective for horses or ponies who poke their noses out and helps to obtain a nice round outline. It is a popular bit in the show ring.

She was very light on the bit - i just had to touch the reins and she immediately responded. cant really say much for the outline part as i didnt get one lol! but apprently she will go into an outline as she settles into the lesson.
