I have a numb tongue, having parted company from Brave this afternoon and biting my tongue as I hit the ground.
I got a bit over confident with him today and sent him into a fence a bit too quick, (scary ladybird fillers) he decided to stop and spin and I went out the side door.
Got back on and got him over it but his confidence dropped right off after I came off and we were back to cat leaping all the jumps again.
I forget that he is so green when jumping, cos he has a super jump when going well.
However, amazingly I dont seem to have lost my new found confidence.
For 1st time I was jumping him in a martingale and that really helped.

Good that you are not diminished by your fall, Brave will live up to his name when he is a bit older I am sure!Hope you feel better soon!

DB - this was the first jumping session, in the arena and the surface is excellent (quite soft to land on too) after a you have been over the jump about 5 times you start to see the sand come through the rubber so jumps get taken down at the end of the session and the surface re-graded and its back to as good as new.
Rac - I'd never worried about biting my togue before (this was a first) but I did manage to take a lump of skin off the tip of my tognue and it still feels wierd, not particularly sore but still a bit numb where I bit it.

Fi - I thought you meant this metaphorically. I was aghast that you actually bit your tongue - its such agony (and I know you said it wasn't but I find that hard to believe) Fi - its all the time we missed riding, I think the horses are all out of practise and possibly us as well. Last weekend was my first time and both boys were 'wired'. A bit better this weekend but definitely rustic!! I have to admire your dedication - I am hoping to copy it!!! Dressage tests and Show jumping are starting in our area in the next week or two but I don;t know if JB is physcially up to it and Cori isn't really fit enough but I will try and improve both of these things.
About the confidence, I never thing you lose it when you know the reason you fell, just when its unforesable/unexpected/or really bad. But delighted to hear it - the Figero spiriti is back

ooochie! bit tongues are never clever. However if your confidence is still intact Brave will pick up on that Im sure and even if he is cat leaping at least he is going over them. Make them less scary for a week or two until confidence is restored fully then you should be tickety boo!
