Hello again!
well as title said really! Had a lovely hack today and I just really need to share it, tried telling mother but all I got from her is distant staring and slow nodding! meh, what does she know!
So yeah! Was meant to be raining today so wasn't even prepared for riding! OH took tack to yard just incase but it actually turned out to be a lovely day...so off we went! I wasn't overly excited as we haven't hacked out for about a month due to weather and no time so been stuck with schooling, and some of you may remember me saying last time we rode out about the horses being total live wires and really out of character and acting up at everything (spring grass!)
Ah it was just so nice and relaxed! the bridle paths had really shot up and were all overgrown with flowers and stuff...much to Ferns delight! So as it is going to be our last hack before holiday we decided to go easy and let them both stuff their faces! ;D
So we got to a flat part which the ground is normally really hard but due to the rain we have had it had softened up a bit, so OH who was behind suggested we trotted. I was going try the excuse that there was kids in the next field and a dog walker ahed, but OH had already started Jaffa up, I was in front on Fern and totally expected her to bomb it...But she was sooo good! she actually trotted nicely the whole way, didn't try tanking off and I didn't even have to touch the reins! And she stopped when I asked her! She actually stopped! And we even had to wait a bit for Jaffa to catch up where normally he would have been up our bottom trying to race and winding Fern up!
Had a nice wander through the woods...and had some more noshing time! Then on the way home we got to the gallop track and they were on their toes a bit but nothing major. They soon settled when they realized we werent tearing up there as we couldn't see how ground was further up. As they were being so good and settled nicely halfway up I asked OH if he fancied a canter. He said to keep it steady as last few times Jaffa had thrown some impressive bucks and OH is not as secure (I'm a better rider...full stop hehe!;D) as me so he was a bit worried. So started trotting...and they stayed trotting again! I was so amazed! Jaffa was up our bottom this time as he has longer strides and managed to keep up, so I put Fern into canter! Ah it was so nice and relaxed, her head was bolt upright but she stayed steady and I still didn't need hardly any rein contact! Then when we got to the top we just let them nosh for a few mins in the sunshine...then had a nice walk home without any head shaking or excessive sweating!
Wow essay! sorry...had to share though! Oh I love it when they behave! They both got an apple each and 5 mins in the overgrown resting field when we got home!
Bless them! ;D Ahh so happy!
