Well happy ruddy xmas ....
Took the boys down to their little field on boxing day and they were both fine but when they came back early afternoon Racaille was hopping on his near front leg. There's no visible damage or swelling and I think it's his shoulder but it's odd as he's also got a few little cuts elsewhere.
I'm guessing he was pratting around and slipped over and the cuts come from stones. Today he is better, though still significantly lame, and will be off work for a while. I haven't called the vet as he is making good progress. There's not a lot the vet can do, I guess. The little guy just needs to rest it.
A fitting end to a crap 2009.

Oh Racaille!! Typical, isn't it! I hope he will be sound soon- Had you riding planned? I know you had/have inlaws staying so that not be possible. Sorry you had a crap 2009- so had I- so I truly sympathise. Here's to 2010!

Oh no poor Rac, hope he's better soon...is it not a good excuse to spend more time caring for the poor little injured soldier and less time with the MIL?

Some improvement, Fi, but he's still lame - but not hopping any more. Not helped by the fact that the three of them were haring around in the top paddock this afternoon

can you section him off away from the others on a small flat bit, That might help, as it was recommended for Dexter before he was diagnosed as a wobbler, when he was obviously lame (it was either box rest of small flat paddock rest)

I agree he may need a bit of solitude but it doesnt always suit them and he may do himself more damage if he frets etc. Glad he is a bit better- if he can weight bear it hopefully wont be too long sorting itself out.
