Just printed out the entry forms for my 1st ever Trec... taking place on 13th Dec.
I am going to take Brave and H is going to have a go with Chompy.
We are going to have a go as a pair as they boys have their own strengths and weaknesses which often counterbalance each other.
However, It could still be a total disaster so watch this space.

Have fun!!
Here are some tips for the orienteering: a lot of mistakes arise from faulty copying of the route from the master map, so take a FINE fluo pen to copy the route and do it very carefully! I once lost 50 points for arriving at a checkpoint 'on the wrong path' by making a tiny glitch with my 'fat' pen on my map . I followed my tracing faithfully et voila! arrived at the checkpoint five metres out ....
Also, where you see the route appear do something unusual (like cut across a field, rather than follow a path) mark it very carefully - I often ring it on my map as a heads-up to take especial care - it is often here that the organisers put a checkpoint or a pincer hanging from a hedge or tree to mark your card!
Remember you will lose more marks for missing a checkpoint or pincer than for going slowly ....!!
But it's a huge laugh, whatever happens!!!!

Duckles I have to say that I am really lucky to be slap bang in the middle of 3 big equestrian centres, all about 30 - 45 minutes away. Along with another 3 cross country courses with jumps ranging from 2' to 3'6" and a jump cross centre all under an hour away.
The trec day will take about 1-2 hours to get to, but in my mind anything up to 2 hours is do-able if I really want.

Brilliant Fi, we shall want to hear all about it. I am planning to go to Sandyflat in January after a lesson with Rhoda, had to cancel the lesson I had booked a couple of weeks ago due to the rain, school was all puddles. Good luck and have a lot of fun... ;D ;D ;D
