Remind me agin why we have neddies please?
This morning went to see mine and Harry didn't seem himself. This was confirmed when I gave them their hay as he was hardly bothered with his (please bear in mind it was still dark at this point!)
Took his temp which was normal...he was not very impressed and I ahd to tie him up to do it and his face was a picture. Thinking about it i don't think i have ever needed to do his temp before, even though I should know what is 'normal'.
So changed their rugs and noticed he looked very fat and bloated...immediatly though colic although he wasn't acting colicy just off his grub.
By now it's coming light so unsure on a course of action i decided to poo pick and observe him whilst doing so.....then I discover that the grass on the wrong side of the fence has been munched the whole length of the stretch so it's hardly surprising he didn't want his hay and the bloated tum is a bit of a give away as to whom the culprit was. Clearly the fence was not biting much last night!
Spoke to vet and now he is (I hope still) penned/restricted food (as in currently none and not very happy about it!) and being monitored incase he did colic.
After waiting over 2hrs he consented to pass some loose poo for me so the vet hopes he will hopefully just have got a bloated belly and by teatime will be okay.
Just going to do another check now so fingers crossed he is still okay in himself and then need to finish replacing some rather green bits of tape that may have ben the cause (ran out of new this morning). I am also going to run a second line a foot or so away from the first to try and scuper any future leaning plans. I assume it was working a bit as previously he has pulled the whole lot down and the battery was fresh on at weekend.
