Pete is still struggling since his new shoes, especially with puffy legs so YO who is very helpful has suggested chiro. He has had physio before so this is new, hope it helps. I know I have been working him quite a lot at the weekends but fingers crossed it is just a blip. Thoughts folks? He hasn't been lame as such just stiff in the mornings particularly near hind and he swings that leg out in walk.

Since his new shoes? Might be worth a chat with the farrier first - the shoes might be too tight...
Also a lot of horses get puffy legs after a night in (P does) as they don't move around in the box and blood and lymph pool without the action of the hoof to keep it all circulating (remember a horse has five hearts?). If his legs get back to normal soon with exercise or turnout, it's that. Could he stay out at night?

I would certainly recommend a visit from the chiro as never wasted money but as rac says if the problem has occrred since his new shoes i would investigate that avenue further too. Re; puffy legs after stabling, AJ has this too and i manage this in winter with Thermatex leg wraps; these help his legs and help prevent the dreaded mud fever. How old is Peter? Might be worth considering a joint formula, AJ is very stiff without his Superflex and Devil's Claw. Hope Pete is soon feeling better Zx

He is 11 i have been wondering about joint supplemnts, there are so many to choose from. Wouldn't know where to start. He had tight shoes once before it's not like that this time.

Can't improve on what Rac and Zara say ie chiro is good to get out but it might be something else. Swinging the leg out does sound like an imbalance somewhere. Re supplements: My vets recommend cortaflex (or Lubrisyn). DB has Murphy on one that has the usual stuff in it plus Devils Claw - its Flexiden and I will probably give it a go when my own runs out. I have been using both Buteless and COrtaflex and never noticed any improvement but always afraid to stop them!! Most people do notice a great improvement with supplements and a lot of vets feel that every adult horse should be on them (don't really agree with this )
