I don't know where to post this really 'cos it was a FUN day, e.g. a bit of everything, dressage with 2 jumps, sj-ing, handy pony, mounted games and timed ride.. It was being run by Strathclyde Dressage Group and tomorrow was the day... But got a call to say they'd cancelled it due to lack of entries... I've had Ben for 4 weeks and thought this would be the ideal first outing, especially as I am very nervous never having done competition much before.... But, not to worry, there will be another thing round the corner I spose... Does this happen a lot? cancellations I mean..

Sometimes there's not the interest in classes then they get cancelled. Its a shame but how it goes. I get annoyed with the pleasure rides when the weather is foul and they should be cancelled but they dont so they dont have to refund the money. OR where you have to cancel because of injury but they wont refund unless you have a vets certificate which costs more than the entry fee.....youve got me going now........

I am sorry about that BB - its very disappointing when an event is cancelled. In my experience it happens a lot - but usually because of weather. I don't think I remember anything being cancelled because of lack of interest. I have to admit to being a total weather expert in the days that I competed (or hunted or anything). Sometimes things aren't cancelled until the very last minute (when you are dressed and have the horse half loaded) and I can remember at least 2 hunter trials where I was told to get out quick before they stopped it due to weather! (I regret to say that yes, I did get out quick without thinking as to whether it was safe - it was!).

its economy I suppose - if there are not enough entries then its not financially worth putting on the show.
Any pics of Bonny Ben??

Maxi I found him at Kelt farm which is classed as Bonnyrigg, but all that I mainly recall is all the blooming roundabouts we had to go through with the trailer, and I was worried lest Ben felt I have heard of Palacerigg, it's in a nice setting on the Glasgow side of Cumbernauld. Kelt Farm's owner breeds pheasants apparently, or used to, it was one of the strangest palces I have ever been, rows of wooden huts some of which had been converted into stables. Ben was on DIY grass livery there and his owner sold him cos he couldn't compete at the leevl she wanted. But as she was competing him from grass I am not surprised....I don't see how you can do ODEs if your horse has a tummy full of it!!

He certainly looks stunning. The writing across the photo makes him look like he's got a crown on!
