I went on a hack today with Kieran and my cousin and Jack and there was a lot of stubble fields - so tempting. So i decided to go for a spin on my own. Now, thinking back on it i think i was very brave to go into quite a flat field and run about in it, seeing as before i only went into that field which had a very steep hill.
There was bales about but Kieran didnt look at them. I was actually booting him to get him walking faster going in - at least he wasnt on his toes lol!! I was crapping myself, all wobbly - totally bricking it! He was easy to get going, ears pricked etc, but not strong or charging off, just a normal steady canter.
He did a spook (if you could call it that - it was a sort of bend head to stare at something) I didnt even see what it was, probably something random and not scary! Like grass!
But he was easy to get back to walk again and bounced along down the slope to the gate.
Yay!! It was a big field too so just very proud of myself. My cousin went into the opposite field for a spin too and she was expecting Jack to be all mental seeing as he doesnt get ridden much but of course he was grand. You could just pull that pony out of the field and hop on and he would be fine, same as ever.
I also rode him in the field last night and i did a bit of bareback riding and even had a little trot but he was actually quite bony!! I could just imagine what it would have been like to ride Connie bareback if Kieran was that bony - you would need something obese to ride bareback comfortably lol!!
