as you know, Beauty is in foal at last. what i am confused about is what to feed her over the summer (if at all). would being at grass 24/7 be enough? the pasture is quite good. She can get quite overweight and i dont want to feed her too much for risks of laminitis but i dont want to harm the foal by not feeding her the right nutrients.

Go onto Dodson and Horrells website. They have a bit where you type in all details of your horse and they send you a detailed feed plan, compiled by a nutrional expert. Its really useful.

really up until the last 3 months dont do anything different to normal really the most important thing is if they are used to being ridden dont leave them its fine to ride upto month 8 and a fit mare has less chance of foaling problems

Beauty seems a bit better today. had a word with vet and said it is safe to give bute if needed. there wasnt any heat in the hooves this morning and she seems comfortable. We are going to keep her in until tomorrow and then only turn out on a night so she doesnt get too fat. i am going to be a nervous wreck by the end of this!
