On Thurs The RS are taking all thier horse up to a small local XC course and were gonna do some XC schooling! Righty or wrongly I have signed myself up to go, will be taking OH armed with a camera. I'm hoping this will perhaps give me a inkling of what I would like to do horse wise. (whether I just wanna be a happy hacker or to do a few RC activities) I'm quite nervous though! haven't done any XC schooling for about 8 years! Then it was only once too! back when I had nerves of steel.

Hopefully. fingers crossed I can ride the lovely Tb with the nature of a riding school pony. He's ex race horse and lil children can ride him. All the jumps will be pretty small.

Sounds great! I was v surprised when my RS did some XC - all the horses were great - there was no stampedes round the field or taking off or anything (which i expected)! What we did was stand as a group on the landing side of the jump and then one at a time rode round over the jump.
I also went on a proper XC lesson at a different RS cos i wanted to see what it was like and it was terrifying! They all took off after each other over the jumps and up the hills and stuff cos thats just what they were used to doing. But then again their XC course is used for eventing ireland and pony club and stuff and they do ODEs and stuff so maybe they thought they were competing!
Good luck!
