Serious question are they fattening?
Mine are stubbornly refusing to loose any weight despite increased exercise and already restricted grazing.
However I get free carrots and they do tend to have quite a lot daily as I scatter them around the field am and pm for them to search out so eat several pounds worth probably.

Dunno...they do contain quite a bit of sugar though so it could be possible that they are fattening I shall do a bit of google-ing for you

I'm sure I've read (thought it was on here but may have been else where) that yes they are very high in sugar, so I would guess they could be fattening. I'm sure I recall hearing that an apple is a better treat for a lami pony than a carrot. Hard to believe that vegetables could be fattening though isn't it? And free carrots? Luck you - mine would be in heaven. Patricks favourite thing in the whole world is carrots!

Yes I was told when Murph had his lami attacks not to feed him carrots just incase because of the sugar content but like you Scatty the thought Veggies being fattening is a bit odd. Mind you I swear by my junk food diet...real food makes you put on weight so it seems and junk food and take aways are fine for weight control in my experience!
