Went collecting rasps tonight - to be truthful got a bit carried away and have made so much jam I had to start putting in all sorts of holder as ran out of Jars!!- eggcup of jam anyone? ;D anyhoo- when i was picking I came across the hugest caterpiller I have ever seen in my life - i kid you not this thing was like a ruddy python coiled round the raspberry bush - I warned the dog to stay well clear incase it was hungry!! its apparently an Emporer caterpiller- given my hatred of moths and butterflies I should have squished it but i was scared it would rear up and get me

That's a scarey looking beastie - l like the spots! Funnily enough, today I found 2 large black fat hairy caterpillers in the stable when I was cleaning it. I don't think they are anything unusual (like yours) but I have never found a big fat hairy caterpiller in the stable before. Could it be that we are in for a bumper caterpiller season? Perhaps they like loads and loads and loads of rain!

Capertillars!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha - I've not seen one of those for aaaaaaaaaaaaages!!! I did find a huge green stripy one in my mum's cupboard at school the opther day, but I don't think that counts since it was plastic but WOW that one is huge! And I agree with Duckles about the spots ;D
