Hi my names Anna and ive been encouraged to pop over and say hi by Zara on here. We both keep our horses as the same yard. I live with my hubby and we share our lives with 7 rescue greyhounds and lurchers , and more recently i adopted Frank a 13yr old TBx from a local sanctuary. Frank hadnt been ridden for 5 years and was turned to grazing with his brother when his owners couldnt afford to keep them working, he went into rescue the end of last year and in late jan/feb i started visiting him with a view to adopt. He was in a very poor state, very skinny, shocking feet all split and overgrown and very nervy due to lack of handling. With time and tlc hes gradly coming through this and looks like a completely diff horse, hes much calmer, a much healthier weight and id even managed to get him riding out again. Sadly at easter he fell tied up and has since been in and out of light work with back problems. next week we have Victoria spalding coming so i hope to shed some light on my lads problem. Anyways Hi to everyone. heres some pics for you to see how we have done so far. hes such a beauty and i cant help but love him to pieces. annax first day in the yard a few weeks later on his back but still skinny about a month ago now with a bit more meat and about 3 weeks ago after lunging

Hello and welcome to The Paddocks ;D *waves at screen at Anna* Frank looks lovely, and he's changed so much after coming to live with you - well done! You should be proud...he really does look like a different horse Just being nosey here (so feel free to tell me its none of my business ), what is up with Franks back? I only ask as my crazy hairy pony has had back problem after back problem and I seem to be becoming quite an expert on the topic . Anyway, we had chiro treatment after chiro treatment (Lisa Brooke, you probably know her) to fix her pelvis but it was only after 2 physio treatments with Gemma (she works with Vicky Spalding) that things seem to be going right again. I guess what I'm saying is that Vicky and Gemma do some amazing work and will no doubt get to the bottom of Franks discomfort and put it right for him

Hi Spotti, ;D Frank fell in the yard at easter, eager mum day of going on holiday wanted one last ride on him before she went as he was going so well and it all ended in disaster, he got sppoked whilst tied up slipped like bambi and crashed down head first then back onto his left hip blood everywhere from split lip. poor lad ever since has been obviously in pain, numerous vet trips to tell me 1st vet- he has back pain rest, 2nd he has back pain, rest 2 more weeks then start gentle work, 3rd vet- yep he has some pain but he needs topline etc etc and to be fitter to get better we know hes thin (well was as he was a rescue but i was working on that) and id only been doing what other vets said resting, anyway to cut a long story short, hes been building up, lunging walking etc and has been fab, moving lovely accepted saddle back which he refused after fall. then bam dashing around in field has brought it on again and back to square one, grumpy hurting horse (cant blame him) and no work, so lets hope Vicky can shed some light and get my lad up and moving again. annax

Hi Frankie - your horse looks really sweet and he combines two of my loves: tbs and rescues. You've done a great job on him and I hope his back sorts itself out soon (like Spotti i have a lot of back experience!) I'm fascinated by 7 grayhounds and lurchers!!! That must be some household. One of my family have a lurcher - he is a sweetheart of a dog but boy is he fast! Looking forward to hearing more about your animals

Welcome to The Paddocks, it's a lovely place that i get loads of inspiration from, not to mention laughs and good advice. Hope you enjoy it and Frankie is a stunner, would love a thoroughbred, and would love to rescue a horse one day if i ever get brave enough.

Sorry I hadn't welcomed you earlier but I've been a little pre-occupied with horsey trouble. So anyway - welcome FM and I hope you enjoy our company on the wonderful Paddocks!!! What a transformation - Frank looks wonderful now, it's amazing what a little tlc can do
