Yesterday I went on a fairly long hack as I was checking out all my stubble haunts. I haven't been able to gallop in the fields for the last 2 years because of all the injuries/treatments etc etc. and I have been anticipating the trill of the stubble fields for a few weeks now. Alas there was nothing cut. And even worse, loads of the usual fields have root vegatables in them instead of grain. I was told it was all down to the weather. They can't cut because everythings so wet and because it was the same last year, some farmers sewed the vegatables instead (sadly my favourite field has parsnip or something - favourite as its next door to the yard and very handy in the winter months Obviously the commercial and professional hardship to the farmers not to mention the increase in food price is the important stuff here but I must be honest and admit I felt very sorry for myself! How is everyone else doing?

What about just going into a random grass field - its not really allowed though - quite naughty of me to suggest! Theres not many stubble fields about here atm either.

We're awash with them at the moment! And there are so many 'perfect' ones, with a slight slope ...
On the other hand it is so dry that a lot of fields are developing massive cracks and in other places the ground is very hard, so we have to be very careful. Still, soon they'll be ploughed for winter wheat and then we'll be reduced to zooming along the side of the vineyards. We can go (pretty much) wherever we like here, which is a constant delight to me ;D

Nope nothing near me. Though I did have a great hack yesterday and found a couple of nice gallop stretches - after all the rain the ground was perfect.

Nope nothing near me. Though I did have a great hack yesterday and found a couple of nice gallop stretches - after all the rain the ground was perfect. Lucky you. I'm so jealous. The rain here has washed away alot of the track surfaces or left rally deep gullies down the middle of them. We now have to walk up tracks we galloped up before.

I don't know that there is any- stubble fields are going to be ploughed up anyway- I think you can go as you please. I would keep to headlands with everything else. Mind you, I mostly keep to headlands with stubble as well - force of habit I guess

Ours have all been cut for about a month! Didn't get a good proper soak till yesterday. Fires been a sod though. The one without mean gamekeepers has a main road at the end of it. If I think in my head I just wanna walk on it today he is happy to walk, but if I think I'll walk towards the road and gallop back he starts leaping in the air and doing a rodeo. He knows what I'm thinking. They did start to plough it up yesterday though. Me and My friend had a blast on it last Sunday. We walked down to the bottom, me having begged her to keep her pony behind cos Fire goes spare if hes not in front. We stopped so she could check her girth and he exploded leaping around, the only way I can find to stop it is kicking him on. Then he goes like lightning. We were at the top tail in air snorting, and she was still half way down.
