Rode Fire on Sat and did some jumping with him. I'd just been using the two jumps on the little field and had a funny feeling he was going to be very bored with quickly. So set up coupla more on a serpentine. He was great, very calm and controlled. I had few steering issues but he jumped lovely. Even switching legs for me, he did a lovely circle on Right leg canter. Then OH put a coupla of them up and we then did them. The trec has really inspired me to ride him forward and towards spooky things, and I really felt a difference in him. All advice welcome. I'm struggling to keep my toes turned in, they are like a penguin!!! I try to keep them in and not been to bad on the flat but once we start to jump they point outwards. All ideas welcomed. RI says she doesn't know how I do it, cos I out turn me toes but still manage to keep knees on the saddle. Good news is though, she is hopefully gonna give me a lesson on Fire dunno what she'll make of him though lol

I thought you both looked great and I was impressed by the idea of jumping on a serpintine- You both seem to be focused and relaxed and enjoying it. I love your jumps (as I've said before). I think you will really enjoy trec

Looks great- maybe you are gripping a bit too much with your lower leg- that will turn your toes out (hard to see from vid) its not a problem jumping the height you are at the moment but as you get bigger you may need to try to relax the leg more and go with the movements absorbing it through the hip knee and ankle- possibly at the moment you are absorbing it through the lower back. (cant really say more as cant really work it out from vids.

I think your right Brig, I think I'm prob gripping with my lower legs to try and hang on. For some reason I struggle to aply leg without gripping with my calves (dunno if its cos my legs are a lil long for him). If I managed to ungrip with them would that help me to absorb the movement through my legs instead of my back? Any tips greatly appreciecated I spouse no stirrup work might help? Fires not very safe with no stirrups in anything but walk. Fire has gone really roan this year, he has about 18 spots up to 3cm across. each year he gets roaner. N he's only got three socks cos he lost one in the wash
