Lump?

I found lump on Chomp yesterday when grooming him, It is at the top of his back leg near his groin. He has really thin skin, being white, and to me it looked like a boil full of pus.
As you do, I did give it a squeeze, as bit of clear liquid came out. it must have hurt cos Chompy's breathing changed, but he never kicks so I wasn't worried about that.
Is this something I should worry about or could it just be an infected fly bite

Clear liquid sounds like exudate, the fluid that rushes to a wound to keep it moist. It could just be a blocked sweat pore if hes been sweating alot, or could be an infected fly bite. If youre worried you could hose it and hibiscrub it daily, but i doubt its anything to worry about, but id leave the exudate, its got WBCs and other stuff in it which help with wound healing.

Sounds like a reaction to a fly bite. Keep it clean and keep an eye on it and use plenty of repellant- liquid parafin that is diluted with water and either sprayed on or wiped on is best- makes the hair lovely and glossy too.
If it doesnt look any better in a few days then get it checked out just to be safest but horses do get all sorts of lumps and bumps that turn out to be nothing so dont worry about it at this stage. Brig brig

I got my instructor to have a look at the lump today, and she thinks it is just a bite that has got infected. I will leave it for a while but if it changes, gets bigger etc I will get the vet to take a look.
