Hi everyone im new on here and thought i'd introduce myself and my horses. Im currently one exam away from being a qualified riding instructor but after a nasty fall the first time round im kinda wimping out , i work at a very busy and big livery yard which my mum helps run. We take on ex racers and rehabilitate them which is hard work but very rewarding . Ive got 4 horses and they're all ex racers. Bomber is 19 and basically retired but used to do a bit of everything, Blitzen is a black 4 year old who im hoping to sell on, Henry who is 21 and out on loan and Star who is 9 and ive only had him a couple of months but im hoping to do dressage on him. Just a quick question already.....how do you put pics on here? Hope i didn't bore you too much. x

Hi Bexc welcome to the paddocks - your horses sound fab. I will try to find the link about how to post pics byt basically its through photobucket and coping and pasting an image link - bit of a poor explanation, the other thread does it so much better

WOW star is really gorgeous!!! Welcome to the paddocks - I wish I had your life - sounds awesome! (apart from the nasty fall bit - dont want to ahve to try to get my coinfidence back again! Its amzing how good you can be (and you must be to rehab ex-racers and be nearly qualified) and still lose your confidence a bit. It'll come back. Look forward to chattin with ya xx PS how did you hear about us?

Thanks for the reply's everyone ;D. I think Star is gorgeous too and he's been an angel so far, he's even taken part in two pony club rally's, obviously not with me on board cos im to old. I had a rotational fall in my stage 3, i was very lucky cos i only got severe whip lash and a problem with my balance which seems to of cleared up now. It is amazing how easily you can lose your confidence and believe it or not i wasn't the bravest person before hand. I do love my job and it is very rewarding but it is hard work and can be very challenging at times. I live on the yard as well which i love but also means i get people banging on my door even on my days off, i also get to work all the bank holidays and xmas but hey someone's gotta do it. As soon as i get more pics i'll post them, i hope to see lots of pics of your horses too. x

Hi and welcome. Your horses sound great and I love the pic. Whats his breeding, I have an ex racer by Iron Mask- he can be a bit of a dragon but most of his have a quirk.

Hi Brigadier its great to meet a fellow lover of ex racers. Star is by allstars fourstar and out of heather blazing, his name is allstars blazing. He's such a lovely boy, really friendly and very calm especially for an ex racer. I cant remember Bombers breeding but his name is Dunmoon Matchmaker and he's a lovely boy but very sharp and a bit unpredictable but i love him. Blitzen is by last tycoon and out of notable dear so god knows how they come up with the racing name of Blitzen, he's totally chilled for a youngster and is into everything, he'll make someone a nice horse. Tell me a bit about your ex racer.

Hi bex sorry for delay- I forget to look at this section! Basil is just five and was lovely and chilled as a three/four year old but grew horns and became a monster as he turned five! I ended up moving yards as he was starting to get the better of me- both on the ground and ridden and as he was at full livery I didnt have much say in the day to day stuff. Anyhow the new yard has worked wonders so Im bringing him on really slowly for dressage. He's a worrier so its slow going as I think to overface him too soon will ruin him and he could be quite nice. Racing wise he raced five times- did ok first time out then obviously decided it wasnt for him as he quickly trails in all huis subsequent starts. Over hurdles he got pulled up and soon after went to the sales where he met me!
Do you like racing?- I love it but the commercial side of it revolts me which is why I decided all my future horses will be cast offs.
