Another good non-molasses feed is Allen & Page Ride & Relax or Calm and Condition (i prefer the former) it is molasses and barley free, completely natural and is packed full of minerals, herbs, fibre and mint...mmmmm they love it! Also, be aware that HiFi and Alfa A is full of molasses!

Also, be aware that HiFi and Alfa A is full of molasses! The laminitis clinic has an approval system for suitable feeds...they have the logo on bag. As Ceej rightly says Alfa a and hifi are molassed but HI-Fi Lite is clinic approved.

My mare has had all 3 types of lami, toxic, concussion and metabolic. The toxic was before I bought her. She had pushed her foal lining out while giving birth. She hadnt had any remedial farrier work and had a dip in her coronet band when I bought her. I had her vetted and was told this wouldnt be a problem. Within 8 months she had bruised the soles of her feet so bad that she suffered an attack of traumatic lami. Mainly through her feet not having had the original work. She has had several attacks after this mainly due to being overweight. Frosty grass was a problem and I soaked her hay for 2 hours to try and bulk it up and get rid of some of the soluble carbs. Anyhow to cut a long long story short this year she had secondary xrays and I sorted out a new farrier who worked along side my new vet and using xrays did a full remedial trim. He got rid of all the white line disease that was progressing and trimmed her hoof wall to compensate for the slight rotation. He then used imprint shoes which were glued on. She was sore after the sedation had worn off and for about 2 weeks but gradually started to look like she was pain free. The imprints have been on for 5 weeks and they are due to be removed next week and hopefuly the road imprints will be fitted and I can ride. She now trots up the field when I call her and generally seems happier. Changing vets and farriers is quite unsettling but for the first time I really do feel I have a `team` behind me regarding the lami. We have all put so much hard work into her and expense, my last vet bill was 4 figures but for the first time from the first attack in April 07 I feel like I`m getting somewhere. I feed spillers happy hoof, garlic, soya oil and formula 4 feet which is the best by far as I have tried most of the other lami products without any success. Formula 4 feet is also the only one my farrier and vet recommend.
