What kind of things should we be doing?
Currently we're just doing 5-10 mins ridden walking every day...should we be doing anything else (to strengthen her muscles)?
(bearing in mind we can't lunge but are willing to learn to long-rein if needs be)
Help pease! ;D

That would be super!
The chiro was a bit vague because of how my back is at the moment (shouldn't really be riding but its too much fun not too!) but I think I might give her a ring and ask what we should be doing if the doctors at the hospital think I should be ok to ride...

Thanks finefilly, that's super-de-duper! I've been doing bits of that already (without knowing I should) so will continue with those, but will add in all the extras! I was actually thinking of making pole-channels to walk through (keeping straight), possibly a maze-type-thing too and also about learning to long-rein...what do you think?) Just being nosey, what did you say was wrong with your horse? And why did they need these exercises? If I'm on long enough then two karmas are coming your way, if not then one will be and I'll try to remember another for next time! Thank you!!!

they came out better than i thought! Dazzle twisted his back slipping over but then the back person said that his back was out of line anyway from his previous showjumping days. thinks he has overstretched himself. he is only 14.2 and used to jump 4 1/2 ft courses with his owner when he was young. he was also broken in at 2 so that didnt help. he is retired now but these exercises helped a little. the ones that have a star on are the ones that she suggested for Dazzle but you can try more of them. the exercises were all in hand but she said that you can try some of them ridden as well. good luck xx

i did the neck stretches with Dazzle using a carrott and it got to the point where when i did the between the legs one, he already had his head stuck between his legs waiting for a carrott!
