take time to let them settle in and check out his new surroundings. don't turn him out with new horses straight away. and the best way to get to know him is to have some private grooming time have fun!!

Savkins is about right- time to settle in, try to adopt the routine of his old home and introduce changes gradually. Take some of his current hay etc with you. dont be tempted to ride him straight away- may blow his brain a bit. Let him graze in his own paddock for a couple of days with his new field mates in a paddock close by. Spend some time grooming him and even just be in his stable for a bit talking to him so that he sees you as mum! I would do a worm count as well as although people may say he has been wormed I would want to check! If he is normally worked everyday then he will need some form of exercise so a bit or turnout is essential- even if its in the school. also make sure his bed is really deep as rolling is a way horses de-stress in new surroundings and if he cant he may worry. Then after a couple of days just get on with it! brig

First of check about a quarantine period. Some yards insist on them.
All basically what everyone else says! Common sense really! don't expect too much too soon. Let him have some private grazing time if possible to let off some steam and check the place out. And also try to keep your same routine, ie feeding times, turnout times, I know it may be diffucult but it will help horsey! And also lots of love, grooming and polos! just relax and enjoy your new yard!

I bet you can't wait till he has settled in! I agree with what every one else has said. Hopefully if a chilled out sort should settle in pretty quickly. Then enjoy.

..and dont panic if he seems a different horse from the one you tried! Its really stressful for some horses to move. When I got Harry I started to wonder what the hell I had done..hyper isnt the word. It took him three weeks to calm down and for me to start thinking he wasnt some mentalist snorty dragon!...then he chilled right out! They all react differently..

Just remember to enjoy this time, spend lots of time with him and remember as ceej said that he may get a bit stressed by moving but he will settle down. Goodluck and keep us posted x
