Yesterday I picked Sancys hind foot up and she's got a rather sore looking cracked heel from the cold and wet. I bought her in last night to dry it off and this morning I have smothered it in vaseline type stuff and turned her out. Not had this before - is she better off in full time until it heels or is she OK to go out (I will bring her in overnight to let it dry off and clean etc).

Sounds like mud fever. Not really sure what to do but I would probably just clean it with some antiseptic stuff and dry it off really well and then in the morning I would put a waterproof cream (etc) over it. So basically you're already doing that. Keep an eye on it and if it gets worse I would ring your vet to see what else you could do.

Keep it as clean and dry and greased as possible, if it feels hot you will need antiboitics/ poultice possibly, but if its just sore it should be ok. If the turnout is very dirty/muddy then it will be impossible to keep clean so youll have to be the judge of that one. If you have to towel dry legs/heels etc dont scrub too harshly at the skin as this can chafe it and make matters worse, best way is to thatch with straw and stable bandages, then brush clean when dry but this is laborious esp when times limited.
Ceej swears by protocon ointment for anything like that- so would suggest to pm her as to where to get it. Its really painful for the horse, esp if it gets infected so keep a close eye on it! Dont you just hate this wet horrible weather?

The best thing to do is clean gently with hibiscrub, let it dry and cover generously with zinc and castor oil ointment which you can get from the chemist. Keep doing this until healed and nice pink skin is showing. I battled with cracked heals with my old mare for years and in the end this worked.

I agree , Hibiscrub is great. One yard i worked at, we actually used a hairdryer to dry off the heels once cleaned. Then I used Sudocreme, think it is a slight step up from zinc and castor oil but prob a bit more expensive.
