It's the fete du club today and Racaille makes his debut on the SJ circuit. Well, he's having a go in the baby class as he's not done a whole heap of jumping and the teenager is under strict instructions to ignore the clock and just put him at the jumps in the best way possible. It shouldn't really be a problem for him as he's on home territory, but he's never performed in front of a crowd before. I just desperately hope he behaves himself as the RI doesn't like him and has told the teenager to warm up well away from the other horses (why? ) I want to prove to everyone that actually he's a really nice chap, not the devil some people seem to think he is. He's just young and full of beans. Finger crosses peeps!

YAY - the little lad was a star, an absolute angel!
There's a monstrous mistral blowing, which freaked a lot of horses and there was some serious disobedience. Lots of refusals and run-outs, particularly at a brightly coloured fan spread at the end. In fact, Rackers had been moved up into the intermediate class which I was a bit cross about as the jumps were quite big for him, as as inexperienced jumper.
Still, he came bouncing into the arena, had a good look round at the crowds and settled down into a lovely 'look at me, aren't I wonderful' bouncy canter. He didn't spook at a single thing - not one jump, bunch of flowers, microphone, baby buggy, jury box fazed him! The teenager made a mistake coming into the double and Rackers did not have the experience to get out of trouble, so brought both bars down, but he went bravely up to each jump and did his very best. Eight faults for the bars and a slowish time but I was soooooooooo proud of his behaviour!
But the rest of the class behaved so badly that Rackers came fifth!!!! Even the RI, who dislikes him, commented later at how well he performed for his first SJ! So did everyone else! I am such a proud mummy!!!
The teenager then had a round in the big class on the same difficult horse as her last competition. He was a real handful and was trying hard to bolt. But she did very well with him, had just one run-out and came fifth with him too. She was pleased - but much more pleased that our little boy had been such an angel!
I'm still grinning! ;D
