Im sorry I have not had that much experience with foals. Our livery girl has 2 yearlings she has had since weanlings. I could ask her a few questions if you have anything specific in mind?

Not sure I've done such a good job of it but yes...what were you wanting to know?
My tip would be handle as much as needed but don't over handle as I think this is what I did.....let him be a baby and grow up...if he lives in a mixed herd all the better as they will teach him manners/appropriate behaviour much better than we can and don't make my mistake of spioling him rotten (and letting others do so also because of the cuteness/novelty factor) that was my biggest mistake and now have on occasions when he's feeling that way inclined the brat from hell to prove it

I'd agree with everyone else about handling. My grandad bred quite a few foals and never getting handled till three everything was a big shock for them!
Luna came to me at 18 months with pretty poor manners and its hard work teaching them things when there big! The fearless horse is a pretty good book if you want some further reading.

my youngster was over handled when he was a foal and he was a very thingyy arrogant little man when i got him. i left him alone to get on with it in the field with my other 2 for a few weeks and if i went into the field i ignored him. it seems to have worked as he is a lot better behaved. an over handled horse is as bad as an under handled one
