I always used to go to Woodnook Arena near Meltham, Huddersfield. Don't know about the bitless aspect though. Its also where I used to keep my horses.

What are you wanting to do? I can't see why bitless is a problem...unless you are showing/dressage?
Woodnook is great but I doubt they will let you in pony classes if over age (never use to). How big is the pony? Can he not go in horse classes? Local riding clubs should be okay .... Try Ecclesfield and district, penistone and Worrall (north Sheff), westfield arena at silkstone (do they still have comps? Again pony/age may be a problem here..was when it was Knabbswood when i was a kid). Ardsley horse and pony club (is that still going?) Hallamshire RS if your other side of sheff use to run good shows. Oh and Wentworth PC run open shows.
As for Notts...I haven't a clue!

Try looking at the boards in parklands, Horse and Rider or throstle nest for shedules....also Notts has a 'local' magazine but i forget it's name...that has a big show dates section.....they sometimes have it in parklands...will check it's name later

Port Royal East Yorks is just off the M62, so about an hour twenty from Sheff.

This sounds like sizism. You might be aloud to be non-competitive if you ask. Round here were quite lucky cos the classes are novice pony, intermediate etc Then you get take your own like, and speed ones and the only age restriction classes are 15 and under. T'is worth ringing and asking. Wouldn't have though bitless would matter though, as long as you have control. They prob won't notice, on the back of scedules there is usually the rules written out about tack and dress.

Thanks all! Am indeed heading to come of the ones mentioned.
Unfortunatley, a LOT of places restrict novice & intermediate pony to 16 & under or lower, which doesn't half annoy me! If its a pony and it manages 2 get my heavy fat lug over that height then surely it should be allowed in?! But oh well...
Same with bitless. Most fine with it if u ask committee before but lots have made a fuss as well (usually after u've competed so they steal ur fee)!
N non-competitive....not for me. If I go in I want a pretty rosette! Tee Hee!
