Well, had an excellent day today. Woke up tho this morning and thought 'aw man i cant be bothered with this - can we not just go on a hack later?' but i feel like that every time i have to get up and go somewhere - i just want to lie there!
Had a good warm up. He was a very good boy - he was quite lazy today but not kick along really - just didnt bother putting an inch to his step - getting away with the least possible amount of work etc etc but I like him that way! Anyway - it was a better run event than the last place - chip van, professional photographer and proper prizes - headcollars and stuff (although of course I didnt get one ) hehe!
First test was the warm up non competitive class Prelim 10. So walked round the edge and said my name (the arena was split into 2 sections again with white painted poles round the edge to mark out the arena) and then was walking along the fence side and he took a dislike to something - pretending to be scared and walked on top of the poles eyeing whatever it was plonker.
Nearly forgot my test halfway through but remembered exactly when I was on the marker! Learned from last time and brought my whip in but he was still a bit of a knob and was difficult to steer - however, I think its hard no matter what horse youre on because everything is happening so fast you just manage to stop and start in time and steer round the circles in time in a wavy sort of line - cos youre trying to keep up the canter whilst trying to drag him into the corners - youre basically puffed!
Anyway - I felt my halts at the end were very good and straight on both tests
Overall comment 'Lovely test, accurately ridden. Great little horse, well done!' (and a wee smiley face drawn also!) I got 64.5% - my highest percentage ever!
Then went back to the trailer and stuck him in it to much some haylage while it rained and we had a snack and waited till it was time to warm up for test number 2.
This time he kicked one of the arena poles as he walked over it Different judge this time. Mum and my friend felt that he went better for the second test but my marks dont show it! I was a bit over the place in all my riding really!
Overall comment 'A sweet pony who seemed a little sleepy today. Needs to go forward more.' 55% I got the 'lazy' comment on the last competition too but if he goes faster i find it harder to control his speed and do stuff in time and steer! Also he decided it would be a good idea to stop in the middle of his free walk to scratch his leg
Got loads of pics taken by a professional photographer so will put links up when they get put on the site!! Totally forgot to get any pics ourselves but at least somebody got a souvenir for us!
Feel chuffed for learning 2 new tests and remembering both of them!
So things to improve on:
rythym,
going forward more
keeping in a straight line - he was 'wandering'!
oh - forgot to do the give and retake reins thing but at least i remembered all the other stuff!
circles - sometimes too small and sometimes too big!
steering! specially into corners!
keeps breaking canter
hmm thats quite a lot! lol!
Anyway - funnily enough i had more fun on the second test even though i felt a bit nervous getting on again - he went nice and lazy and that gave me confidence! I think the fact that hes been going quite fast recently has knocked me a bit so the fact that he was nice and steady today has reassured me and helped me enjoy it
pIC N MIX for all!
