There is a saddle for sale near me for £130 16inch wide gullet which i wanted to ask if it would fit my boy. His is a 17inch wide fitting leather saddle but TBH i am a bit nervous about ever leaving it at our yard. It cost a fortune and as long as a cheaper one fit i would like the option especially in bad weather, other people riding him etc. My saddler is coming out on Friday anyway so could get him to check the fit. Am i being greedy wanting a second saddle is it too small anyway how many does everyone else have? Thanks as always for all your input.

I've always thought the 16/17inch size etc was more the size that fits the rider - you have to measure the length of your thigh, so if you are normally in a 17inch a 16 might be too small for you. I'll find the website ....
TBH don't buy any old Wintec just because it's on offer close to you. I bought an totally immaculate one on eBay - you can generally find them around. And I only paid £100. But as I said in your other thread - do try one first! I bought my Wintec for Racaille as he was on working livery and other people are never as careful - but I don't like to ride in it. It's very comfortable, admittedly, but throws everyone's legs forward a bit.
In the fullness of time I think I'll be looking out for a good quality second hand leather saddle for R.
