Would it be cruel on my pony to plait up tail friday night, and tape it all up for saturday, plait sat morning, but leave all in, and retape up tail sat night for sundays dressage?? After our test on sunday, this is how her plaits all looked - Tail pic is after the test and was plaited friday night, mane was plaited in the morning of the test, but if i stick tights over the top...

Personnally dont like to plait mane until the day of test as can induce tension in the neck but a lot do. Tail should be ok but then I dont plait tails for stressage ETA.....I think you should send her to me coz I rather like the look of her ;D

Shes abit small for your liking Dave! Shes only 14.3hh, but youre welcome to her!! ... As long as the wow gets fitted to her (You wouldnt like her nice new barnsby, so would need the wow ) I dont usually plait for stressage either, but my friend said she'd plait her tail for me to make her look even more special! - And shes at Chepstow on saturday so cant do it on the day, hence the taping up. Id be doing the mane on saturday morning, depending on the time of my class, but its the second class so should have plenty of time. On sunday i have 2 classes though, first and third classes ... hmm will make my decision tomorrow when i get my times, if my prelim on sunday isnt too early i might unplait then just replait sunday...

She looks lovely and very smart! i personally dont plait up till the day of the comp as i think that it can irritate the horse- and if she starts rubbing....no tail....no mane, but I know lots who do and get away with it. good luck!

Perosnally I take the plaits out of mane and tail and re plait. Leaving them in can cause tension through the neck muscles and the tail can become damaged if the plait is tight.

I do plait the mane the night before if I have very early start (as we often do) but would not leave them in any longer than that. never plait the tail because if it annoyed them they are more likely to rub it overnight. I rarely even plait the tail before I leave, I wait until I get to comp.
