Hi folks
A couple of months ago I briefly came on 'the other' forum but sadly was limited to time i could log in.
I apologise if this is a long story but i must share my experience this morning. I went to fetch my beautiful sec D mare in this morning and she was lying down. So I knlet beside her and she put her head in my lap and there we sat heads togehter watching bunnies play me with tears in eyes.
18 months ago when i first saw baby she was a frightened , stressed little lass living a life of abuse & beatings. she was stood in a stable in near darkness weaving to an extreme I have never seen in 39 yrs of being around horses. She had lost confidence in humans and herself. She was classed as dangerous and being sent to auction for the meat man to buy her if ness. It has been a long journey- with tears at time - of quiet calm but firm handling - building a bond. I turned her away for 9 months just bringing her in to feed and groom. Then we moved onto join up and lungijng to re introducing tack to finally riding her. Every step of the way was at her pace and always with plenty of reassurance and praise. Last night after riding her i rode back to the stable feet out of stirrups and on a long rein!!!!!
So this morning was the most unbelievably special moment . She is my little soul mate. Whilst we still have a way to go she has given so much to me, her love, my self confidence and belief in myself again. Oh tears in eyes writing this!!!!!
