I did it - tonight I cantered Brave in the stubble field OK it was not the hell for leather flat out gallop I do with Chomps but we did canter the full length of the field in both directions, i.e. away from home and heading home. He behaved himself impecably so my confidence with him has just leapt another notch

Zara - do it in your own time, psyc yourself up for it, but if its not going to plan dont push it, everything just felt right last night... for me to give it a go. I have tried on previous occasions but have aborted or just done a short canter in the field, but last night was the 1st 'proper' canter out in a big open space.

Fi- I could really relate to this as cantering the big stubble field was for me the yardstick to accomplise after my accident. For some reason (well I know the reason) cantering in a big open field seemed to be an enormous bugbear for me and I can remember how proud I was after eventually doing it and nothing horrible (like bucking and taking off ) happened.
Well done!! You will be all out galloping soon (if you are lucky enough to keep the field in stubble)
