Patrick has come with one turnout rug which is lovely but it's quite thick and has a neckcover built in which is fine for now, but with the weather warming up (supposedly!!) I think he could do with a lightweight for those showery but warmer days. Anyone recommend a decent one that won't break the bank. Sadly despite being same height as Sancy he's not same rug size - she's 6ft but he's a 6' 6!!

What breed is he? Iv found Amigo rugs are brilliant for TB types but are great for welsh too, there fairly cheap and are all round brill rugs.

All my rugs are Horseware and I love them. The Amigo range isn't too expensive. IMO stay claer of MAsta rugs - never had a good one Zx

He's a cob but is quite long. His body's not really chunky though - its all in his head & legs!!

Saxon is really quite cheap and might fit him...We got a 5'9 for Kieran and whilst it looks fine when he standing up, when he grazes his bum sticks out. Ours is also Amigo - fits brilliantly round the neck.

Saxons are no good for anything bar tb/arab/lightwigth types but are great otherwise.
Amigo's are too tight round neck for larger horses in my experience and mine leaked like a sieve but would agree to steer clear of mastas...they should come with a govermet health warnning!
Landa lites are ace!

Its really funny how everyone says steer clear of Mastas yet Myric has one and it's always stayed quite dry - must have been a lucky one! I will avoid like the plague however.

Love my Masta on Bern, fits very well. Can't beat a good weatherbeeta though saxons are cheap for a reason, like mini skirts on anything wider than a trotting pole

I agree with everything said above i love the weatherbeta but you can't beat the amigo for price although not a huge amount of neck/chest room it suits Noble. I believe saxon are made by weatherbeta (probably wrong) but the shape is so wrong for most horses.

i found that a saxon fit bloss nicely - at 14hh she takes a 6'3" rug so being quite short she didnt get drowned as much depth wise if that makes any sense at all?!?!?!

Saxons are w'beetas Budget range. I fund they fit okay and quality is great but they skimp on material for the depth hence Murph being mainly TB is fine but harry would get a very cold tummy!

We have the amigo lite turnout rugs for my (ahem) chunky - not overweight mare and my daughters pony. Fit really well at the chest and have been brill! Really good value at £32 even if they only last one season. It's nice to have a lightweight for those chilly nights and to keep the rain off.

I have a couple of brilliant Masta rugs the checktech lightweight TO and Chompy's regal HW stable rug, they are the only thing that fit him.
I have also had some boggin' awful Masta rugs that ripped and leaked like sieves... they have gone to rug heaven having been stripped of spare straps and buckles.

Savvy has a weatherbeeta lite and a lightweight masta (zing? maybe) and i personally prefer the Weatherbeeta but the Masta one is very good. Always had Masta rugs and as long as they are reproofed before and after the winter they are fab.
