I got to lead the ride yesterday for the canters and the gallop ;D ;D ;D I told my OH when I got back and all I got was 'That's nice'. No it's not NICE it's AMAZING as they never normally let anyone do that. Cav was so good and chilled. I thought we would be in a different county before he slowed down but we even managed to come back to walk have way up the gallop hill without a fuss because of a walker in the way( ). I am loving that horse more and more each time I ride him. Edited for spelling again

Yay! Woo!! I used to love it when they let us do that...there's nothing better than a good gallop, but there's nothing better than a good gallop when there's no one in front of you getting in your way!!! (silly OH for not understanding )

OH's are just rubbish when it comes to horses. My OH came with me yesterday to see Patrick, and when I asked him what he thought he just said 'it's a horse innit'!! Bet it was great fun steaming up the gallop in front. It's been a long time since I've been for a good blast.

You must be good Kitcat, if they allow you lead the ride!! ANd you have a gallop hill!! (envy envy) It sounds fantastic. I must admit I love to lead but mainly because I've always have horses who buck, pull, go crazy to get in front!!!

Thanks Duckles but I wouldn't class myself as good at all. I was riding a great horse and I have been riding there for 4 years now so know the tracks quite well. I don't think there is another riding school who has hacks like ours - the 2 hr hack has several canter tracks and a couple of hills for a gallop if you go that way round. The only problem is the walkers who always seem to hide in the bushes half way up

mow 'em down kitkat as you shout ' ramble that sucker' whilst you gallop past!
oops really must brush up on my country code! sorry but they always seem to pop up from the oddest place and I had one try and tear a strip off me for the horse leaving poo on the grass! outrageous, horse poo. in the country .what ever next? the total disintigration of society as we know it?
sounds like you had a blast well done you!

We have thought about playing skittles but the RS name is printed on the reflective tabard things we wear. However, if we did a good job, no-one would notice We were riding past some houses a few weeks ago when one of the horses left a big pile of poo. A voice came out of nowhere saying 'You should get off and pick that up' And where would we put it?

And to think in the old days, people used to rush out to be the first to get to the poo for their veggie patch

AMAZING!!!!! Well done you, Kitcat! Bet you haven't stopped smiling! He he, last time I was with a big group of horses in a village all these dear old biddies came thundering out with their shovels and starting clearing up but our poor nags couldn't produce enough poop - the old ladies then rushed round with plastic bags trying to catch it as it came out You can imagine how much the horses liked having rustling (killer) plastic bags shoved up under their tails .....

lol when they say you should pick it up, you should throw it & aim for thier car! They may be happier for you to leave it where it is next time then... Then trot off real quick, its not like you've got a number plate or anything! I bet you had tons of fun, theres nothing more fun then galloping around the countryside ;D (especially if your in front) When I was younger me and my friend used to race our ponies up stubble fields, so much fun. Fire would always win Sounds like you've had a really great week between jumping 2ft 6" and galloping across open countryside. You'll have to have a go at combing the two next

That's one of my long term goals Firenlady. However, I am not good at going down hill at speed let alone getting over a jump nicely so it may be a very long term goal
