Well, thought I would post a wee update on our hack today - funnily enough our roads were pretty quiet today but we went on over to hack out with my cousin anyway. It was very windy today and I was a bit nervous but it was a good hack - worry wart again!
Well, the whole lot of us went out - my auntie and her mare, my cousin and her pony and me and Kieran and their other pony who is too small for anyone to ride now really, so mum led her!
We were out for nearly 2 hours and took the same route as last time - on the way home we stopped off in the field where they ride and my cousin had a bit of a ride round and a jump (homemade - barrels and a pole!). I even had a bit of a trot around!! Woo! He was very good - he was more forward going in the field than the arena and went quite fast in trot at some points but its looking good for riding in our field in the summer - at least he doesnt go nuts as soon as his feet touch grass!
He was a bit spooky round the roads and walked quite quickly the whole way round and had a jump at something - what was really surprising was that i wasnt scared! Maybe it was cos it just felt that he splayed out his legs and because I hardly moved in the saddle - i dunno. But yay!
Thought I wouldnt push it and not have a canter - will save that for later! ;D
Next hack = Tuesday! Well, were going out tomorrow on our own as well ;D

Yay! Go Flea! And yay for Kieran too!!
It would seem your cousin has a good influence on you so I'd keep it up...besides, hacking is tonnes more fun with someone to natter to!

Things seem to be going really well for you Flea. I think you have a gem in Kieren and you are starting to trust him more. Keep up the good work;)

Really nice actually! He got a bit excited by a pony running round a field but as soon as we went up to it for a sniff he wasnt interested, lol! Then there was a wee shetland pony and it was sooo cute! We went up for a sniff and it was so funny - it nickers like a sheep baaing, lol! He walked quite quickly for the first half and then settled down to a nice steady walk - i was even riding with one hand ;D

Woo it's so nice to feel relaxed isn't it - I was like that yesterday on Patrick - most of the time had a loose rein and was just walking along chatting to his owner - did't need to pay any attention to what he was doing. I will probably be quite nervous to go out on my own when I get him home but I'm also looking forward to it.

Flea, I am so pleased for you and to be honest, you do deserve this!! I love Kieran! Congrats on all your hard work in dealing with your nerves - it is paying dividends!! Can't wait to hear more

Well, I just wrote a b***dy great post and the damn computer is playing up!! AGHHHHH!
To cut a long story short - it will be absolutely brilliant! Every time I went on on connie for the first month I was shaking but on Kieran I dont shake! Strange.
Also, Kieran isnt what my ideal was going to be - Patrick sounds more like my perfect horse - but I just clicked with him and even though he isnt foot perfect on the roads, its fine. And im gonna be able to do lots and have lots of fun with him - hes just a really rare type of pony - suitable for a novice but able to go out and compete with the best - hes got showjumping points and all!! ;D

Exactly, you've got years left of fun with him and as your confidence grows you will no doubt enjoy the fact that he is not too ploddy. Patrick isn't getting any younger - though he is still jumping and showing now - but for me, I just want to find all the great bridleways round here. Woop a summer full of horsey fun lies ahead......
