I am wanting some advice on whether to change and Daisy from her current straw bed to maybe wood pellets or nedzbedz or something.
Basically she keeps her straw bed lovely and neat with just an odd poo pile in a couple of places. I have her stable about 2/3rds straw bedded but the remaining part of the stable is always wet and pooey (the poo is sludgy too as she wees near it so it messes it up).
I thought about just getting one of the above to scatter in the places where she wees and poos so that it absorbs it better but I didnt know if those types of bedding are ok on concrete?
All of her stable is concrete, I feel like my options are:
> stick with the straw but put the bed further out and up to where the poo and wee usually are (but wouldnt leave much of a place to stand without bedding, front hooves only;
> get rubber matting and change to Nedzbedz or something
> get Nedzbedz or somthing to scatter on the bit of the floor that she poos/wees on (even though it isnt rubber matted).
Just a note - I get my straw all in with my livery but I am thinking of changing to getting my own haylage and bedding so could change if I wanted to...
ALSO!
Major has a straw bed but he tends to churn his up as he backs up through it when going to his door then to his haynet. I wante to give him a deep bed but it is just impossible! I think he would benefit from having a woodpellet type bed as it wouldnt all gather up as much behind his hooves... (He has concrete flooring also).
Any thoughts?
ps - do you need rubber matting if you are using the wood based/paper based stuff?
Thank you in advance
