Going to look at a new yard for Warrior on Thursday. Having a few probs with the current situation & am finding it really difficult to look after him & two other horses while working full time, plus they've all been separated which he hates & is a bag of nerves in the field jumping at the slightest thing.
The place I'm going to see is nearer to where I live & although he won't have a stable for the winter nights, he'll share a barn with a pony and another horse. I think this will be better than a stable as he'll be able to move freely with his arthritic knee. There's all year turnout, nice hacking, menage (never had one of those before!) and I can keep my trailer there.
Just one snag, how do I tell the present yard that I'm thinking of moving him & that they'll have to sort something out for their horses?

Don't worry at it, just tell them once you have the new place sorted out.

I agree, don't worry - you have to do what is right for you and Warrior and for him to be out all the time is no doubt a better choice than the present situation. I sold my wee mare to a place in the Borders a couple of years ago and she has all round turnout now and loves it apparently wth her two companions. As long as there is a nice cosy field shelter I am sure it is a better choice as Warrrior will be able to move around and not get stiff. The only thing is, I would make sure though that the barn is protected from the worst of the wind and rain, you wouldn't want his knee to get sore and swollen and the damp might affect him.
