Well I've gone and been and done it! Yup am going to do a walk and trot test at beginning of April. Really looking forward to it. I just wondered if anyone has any pearls of wisdom for a newish rider?
My aim is just to ride a nice test and be "judged" if you get what I mean. I think my riding is improving but would like it to be on paper so that when I do another test I hope to improve my score.
btw this is all providing i can find some cream jodphurs that don't show all my lumps and bumps (and there are many!!).

good luck betsy, try to relax and enjoy (hard I know) but if you tense up it will effect the way you ride and the way your horse goes. Also try to ride as accurately as possible so transitions etc happen as you pass the marker (not the nose of your horse)
But as I say good luck

Unfortunatly lumps and bumps just go hand in hand with cream jods but your best bet is to get some slimming pants, iv got some that go just below my knee so no funny lines lol

Hey thanks for your replies. I've managed to find some cream jods that don't make me look like the back end of a bus (OK I went mad at Robinsons and bought the whole caboodle!). I'm practising like mad, it's great having something to aim for.
I think Rosie will be moaning to her field mates about me though, she's working very hard. I know it's far too early but I'm sure her suppleness etc is improving already which is good.
My RI is always telling me - "Corners!", and I must admit I'm hearing this in my sleep!

Well done BB- good luck for your first test. Sounds like there is serious effort going into this and you will do really well. Fi's advice was excellent (ie its what I would have said if she hadn't got it in first) Don't worry about the alleged 'lumps and bumps'- I'm sure you look great. ANd of course, have a friend on hand to video every moment and post it here

Good luck BB, I am sure you and Rosie will do well. I have heard that you shouldn't ride the full test in practise very often or your horse will anticipate the movements rather than waiting for your instructions.

I'm trying to do all the movements seperately to stop her getting ahead of me.
