Thinking of getting the dodson and horrell weigh tape as ours is crap. Is it any good? Would like some opinions before I splash out about a tenner!

I dont think they help much anyway - ood for finding rough weight for worming but not much else - is it for worming?

I do it by eye and condition scoring now...tapes work on willow but not harry - he stays the same even though you can see he has lost weight! He loses it over his bottom etc but girth stays the same.. whats wrong with the tape you have? Not sure which one i have...

I couldn't live without my weigh tape. Although not 100% accurate or anywhere near for actual weight they are a godsend for monitering my boys weight daily through sring/summer/autumn. Since Murph's lami I weight daily (must be at same time as they flucuate throughout day!) and try to keep at a constant weight, it means I know if they are piling on the pounds/at risk very quickly which condition scoring alone wouldn't show up until several days/weeks had passed if the increase was slight.
I wouldn't bother with a new one though...if you need to know his accurate weight do your vets have a weigh bridge or can you arrange to take him to one?

I've got the freebie one same as rainbow and yes the two sides do read differently which actuallymakes sense if you think about it but I ahve another one (also a freebie) from a feed company which is only one sided...never compared results as I just use the mag freebie but might give it a try and see what they say.

Mines equimax I think, feed merchants gave it to me free as they didn't have any left for sale. It's double sided and also had the formula for calculating yourself by lenght, etc.
My friends got one i borrowed when i misplaced mine and nearly had a heart attck when i read it as it gave such a different result!
I use the tape in as well as condition scoring to monitor his weight

yeah i sent off for the bailey's one so that was freebie too. but i cant member but i think the mag one definatly gave a more relistic weight and had the formlua on it. mosh now has that one as i thought the bailey's would obviously be better. but the bailey's does have a height thingy on it.
