I dunno, if it was me I would just go for the bog standard cotton girth - loads of different colours and easy to clean. I had a thorowgood girth and it was ok. Just depends on what your preference is for girth material (cotton, synthetic, leather etc) and if you want an elasticated bit. I dont think there is much difference in the brands except for quality.
PS Cottage Craft seem a pretty reputable brand/make.

The Waffle type ones are good...aerborn make one too, I ahve a dressage one and it's great...
Personally I do not like elasticated girths as they cause IMO overtightening whether they have elastic on one side or both

I never really got on with synthetic girths, they made Fire really sweaty. I had a wintec one with built in elastic but it would have marked my saddle if I'd continued to used it. Like Flea I just use a bog standed one now, and funnily enough I think he likes this one best. £3.50 on ebay 2nd hand!

I've got a Cottage Craft shaped waffle one on the Wintec and it's a very nice girth except I do not like the elastic on one side. I find it too elastic. But I don't find it especially sweaty, even down here. On my own saddles I have bog standard girths, I think they are Belstar. I like them as although they have a very small amount of elastic it is not stretchy if you see what I mean. But I keep a furry sock on them which I wash weekly. Never had any problems with either of them. Not keen on the cotton stringy ones, they get too wet here and I've seen them cause some nasty rubs.

Just be careful with one-ended elastic girths as they seem to cause pressure points on one side...

I'm aware that this is often said, Spotti, although I have never found a problem personally and have been using the Belstar girths for five years. I do however think it is important that the elastic is on the side you do NOT tighten.

I now have a leather one with elastic (not v stretchy) on one side. Previously I had to use a cord one as it helped with saddle slip, but Harry is a gorth hater. now I have my gel eze pad (since sliced bread I tell you) I can have the elastic at one end as I dont need to tighten the girth too much and it really helps with his hatred of the first hole doing it up! I wear it with a fleece sleev but only because again it helps with his lothing. Now he barely moves when I go to do the girth up. I had heard that too with elastic girths but I think it depend on how much you need to rely ont hem if you know what I mean. I did find the thorowgood humane girth good but very easy to overtighten.

I used leather girths with elastic on the sides for years and years without any problems. I have to admit loving the elastic as it made the girths so much easier to do up. I recently changed saddle and needed a dressage girth so I got a wintec dressage one, its cheap, synthetic, has elastic in the middle (so they say) and seems to work a treat. Don't know if that is any help but I would recommend it. I am really lucky never to have had girth galls, soreness, rubs or anything with whatever girth I have used. Having said that I have always thought those sheepskin sleeves people put on girths look so soft and lovely that I have often been tempted to get one but there really is no need. I might add, the leather girths I have are stubben ones and are supple and look great despite the abuse and neglect they have got from me over the years.
