i'm posting this for a friend,
She recently lost her beloved mare (please see EBA Harmony post in the remberance section). She still has her son, who is rising 5 years. He has stopped eating. Vets have been out and have said he is STARVING but he wont eat.
Long term loan is URGENTLY needed, any color, size, breed, ridable or non rideable. Doesnt even have to be equine!!!! Must be a female though and able to live out!
Poor guy is literally starving himself to death. He's currently at a body condition score of one.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE i'm begging you guys, if you know of ANYTHING that my mate could have even if its only for a couple of weeks till she can find something else.
She's in the worcester area and a very experienced 5* home awaits.

What a shocking story, poor little horse...can she not move him immediatly to somewhere with company if it's just company he needs?
Or just buy the first mare she sees/comes across? When i needed a companion I found and could have easily brought Harry home within a couple of hours.
I'm sure your friend is doing everything she can but sometimes more drastic actions are necessary. Maybe it wouldn't work out but if it was me I'd be out there today and buying the first one deemed suitable (as in female) I laid eyes on and then keeping everything crossed.
Hope she gets something sorted. x

she cant afford to buy, we're both students. she's asked all of her neighbours (all of whom have horses!) and they have all refused to even lend her a horse for a couple of weeks. One woman has a mare in her late teens, doing nothing and she wont let her borrow it cos she's old showstock!! we've rung and begged charities to lend us a pony and they wont. We're down to ringing dealers and seeing if they want rid of an older pony or something. Thing is even ringing so called free to good home ads, as soon as they realise how desperate we are they want money.

thanks, needs to be a mare really as she's surrounded by studs and she was told in no uncertain terms that if any fencing was damaged by a gelding trying to get out, she'd be sued.

I'll look really silly but why would a gelding want to get out? And presumably the young lad already there is already gelded?

the neighbours seem to think that the gelding would 'want' the mares in season. Sirius is gelded but he has never shown any interest in mares ever. They are such idiots to think every gelding would do that, but if any fencing is damaged, my mate is going to be sued. They've tried it before with other issues. Crazy people!!

a gelding is not going to have any intrest in mares in season thats why they are gelded

have pm'ed spotti and passed on numbers, so hopefully she will ring today. We've asked numerous charities about rehoming but they all have 'regulations and procedures' to go thru which takes longer than we have!! They wont bend them even though we may loose sirius.

have you asked your vets? mine would move heaven and earth to sort this kind of thing out, or have you tried any riding schools in the area?

spotti's horse has gone last time we spoke, cant she move him to a new yard? Rebanna - people have been messing Amy about and saying they'll have Spice and hen either not showing up to come fetch her or just backing out at the last minute...

Panic over now, we have sweet talked a local charity into loaning a GORGEOUS palomino pony with them. She's arriving monday i think, she's 4 but was broken to ride by gypsies at 2 so her back is totally gone. Fingers crossed sirius will pull round now he has a new friend to play with!!! Thanks to all for the help. It has been much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!
