After getting to the yard at 7 this morning and finding Kip suddenly is headshy and battleing to plat him up, we left for the dressgae 20 mins late. I was mean to be able to warm up in the arena as i was first in but as soon as i got in the judge was ready to get going, so NO time to warm up. Kips eyes were on stalks his ears nearly popped off. So i start a quick warm up and he decides that the people watching were too much...... so after a few laps he seems to be settling. A enter at working trot C turn right or in kips case , throw an absolute mentalist hissy fit spin round bronc rear and chuck me off. right in front of the jugde who then pops out of her box and gives a patronising ' are you done?' I nearly told her to **** right off stupid impatient wench, my test was at 9.12 so why they hell was she in such a rush!!! A swollen knee , bad back and a night shift to look forwards to. Im starting to think iv made a bit mistake

Oh dear (mustn't giggle but it does sound quite funny - I mean right in front of the judge - sorry ) No. Serious now. Naughty Kip!!! And the judge sounds like a real cow. Shame Kip didn't nip her. Don't let it put you off though, he'll get used to it. It was your first test together after all. Now you need a big hot bath and wine. Especially the wine.

Oh dear Charley A good tip for handiness in the morning is to have the plaits already done but not rolled up, or at least tied in bunches the night before and then you can quickly roll them up - still, not an easy job with an uncooperative horse. Well done for making the effort to go - i hope it hasnt put you off. Karma coming your way

Charley, sounds like you got the judge from hell, if it proves problematic to plait don't bother, so long as he looks neat and you are just going for the experience what's the problem.
Well done for the attempt but keep at it as it does get easier.

Well the judge sounds a cow for a start- have a karma - you deserve it simply for not punching the judge!

I remember, very clearly, my first showjumping round on my old boy. Cantered up to the first jump, stopped dead, I kept going and landed the other side of the jump, bridle in hand with him staring at me. But then I also remember, very clearly, the last trophy he won, 5 seconds faster than the 2nd horse and 32 yrs old. ;D There was one hell of a journey between each but it made me the horsewoman I am today. You're at the start of your journey. Just got to find the strength to keep going and you'll get where you want to be.

Oh dear that sounds a bit of a disaster! At least you just came away with buises (knee and pride ) I like the idea of getting back on and being really slow to annoy the judge but whats the bet she would remember if you had her again haha. Chalk that one of as experience and on to the next
