What a lovely sunny weekend. Slowly ticking the things that terrify me off my list..this weekend - speed in open spaces!! Went to the big field with my yard friend and we cantered all the way up the field.....we were in control and whay hey - no broncing or bolting or any of the other things that ran momentarily through my mind as I put me leg on!!! He is such a star! My biggest thing will still be out on my own and I cant see that happening yet but then, if I look back 6 months and someone said to me I would be cantering through the buttercups in the huge field I would have smited them for being silly!!! Then a lovely hack on Sunday where I really felt at home in the saddle....my lower back doesn't ache when I ride now, even on a two hour hack, so i must be relaxing finally! The I took Willow for a lovley little lead rein walk in the sunshine and he was really pleased to be out and then he had the first bath of the summer (and rolled immediately afterwards) Very happy ;D ;D

Sometimes it seems so trivial when I look back at jumping random hedges and hunting, and racing bareback through round bales (the best weaving game ever, and brill for the legs) and teaching my Mums 16.3 TB to jump and allsorts not that many years ago and sometimes I can hear in my head...'wow cantered through a field whoppie bleedin do! ' But getting over this immence confidence loss is one of the hardest things I have done. I tried a horse before Harry (warmblood) and literally froze with fear on it coz it looked at something in the field..it was so embarrassing infront of the owner I nearly gave it all up there and then! I had to get off. I want to scream at people 'I am better than this, Honest!' !!! You lot have helped more than you'll ever know tho xx

I think we all know what you mean! It's hard to look back at the way we were as kamikaze kids and understand quite how we got to be these anxious adults! I suspect it's a biological self-preservation thing! But Ceej, you're doing brill at tackling these issues. Try not to mourn the way you were too much, but focus instead on each little victory that happens now. ;D

I think true bravery is facing the things that terrify you personally. It is not about being fearless. Well done Ceej, I think you are doing brilliantly.

Its happened to me though i never really used to care about horses rearing at me or anything, used to be really confident with them. then one day while i was work ex a girl asked me towalk a big 16.2 or bigger it seemed bigger round the school, saidd he wouldnt do anything, so i did not a care in the world. it was a partically windy day. well he started to rear on me as soon as i got in there, i held on, thought ok started to walk him round some more then he just lost it, i didnt have my hat on or anything could of got really injured but all i got was a kick on the hand as he reared and bucked at me.(luckly i had lots of layers) but now cause of that i am petrified of horses that are quite big and frisky and think they all goin to rear on me! its just horrible to think that before this i was confident and now it has just all gone Sorry for a long reply but at least u have over come this and actually went throught the field and i bet u enjoyed it!! hehe So a big well done to you. *pats on the back*
