I wouldn't have thought you could muck out with a slipped disc. They are pretty serious so I hear. I think you would have some truama associated with it - I don't think it just happens spontaneanously but then again I don't really know - just thinking of the 2 people I know who had one. One had to go on bed rest for ages and the other had an operation. And both fully and completely recovered. Hope you don't have that but whatever is wrong sounds awful- your back could be out of alignment which would need repositioning and probably physio to strenghten ligaments and muscles and you wouldn't be off riding long. But honestly I know little or nothing about these things, try not to worry too much. GOod luck

my mother slipped a disc and basically could not use her legs at all.
I would think you are more likely to have a trapped nerve/nerve damage.
The disc is the lump of cartilage between the bony bits so cant feel it.
if you are that worried then go to the doctors as backs are not to be messed with. Take it from someone who periodically walks like the hunchback of notridam when my back 'goes'. Years of riding bad horses and lifting bales and barrows of sh*t have taken their toll!!

you would be able to stand for more than a minute let alone muck out the pain is un bearable you cant sit without pain you can sleep the pain is so bad if you had a traped nerve you would get pain down your legs or down just one leg if a sliped disc is the same as a prolapst disc you would need a op as i did in sept youve proberly got a pulled musle

I doubt very much if you a "slipped disc" let alone 3! A strained back is very painful, take some anti-inflammatories (Ibuprofen aka Nurofen, brufen) and keep moving. Get it checked out thoi' for peice of mind. Backs can be v painful; i know, I've fractured my spine twice falling off horseys Z

Hi Spotti,
See what the doc says, first, then take it from there. Personally I swear by (and at) my Chiropractor, who has worked wonders with mine, but as Chiro's are expensive, see what your doc says first.
Cheers, Midori

wheres the original post? doh you want it locked spotti? Thank god I saw this - I was starting to think the doolaly bug had bit me!! Dont listen to the doc...load of rubbish generally when it cones t anything that isnt cured by an asprin (or maybe thats just all the docs down here) Go to a chiropractor or a physio! Or insist the doc refers you to one on the NHS...(if you can wait 3 years)

Doc referred me to hospital...still waiting for them to phone. Guess they'll prod and poke me and send me to a chiropractor (fingers crossed its not major and I'm really hoping I won't need an op (worst case scenario)...fingers crossed)
Hope someone phones soon 'cos my back kills!
