I don't know if you remember but a few months ago I posted about Chomps refusing to go up the road past the livery yard that I sent him to too after Fig died, and therefore being cut off from the forest paths as it is the only route for me to hack to them. His refusals were violent and there was no negotiating with him...! Well today we did it! we got to his hateful corner at the 1st of the yard's fields and he swiftly went into reverse. then we had a couple of spins and 2 rears. I was feeling incredibly chilled out today and after each of his manouvers turned him back up the hill and gently asked forwards. After about 10 minutes of simply looking up the hill I felt him start to relax and we moved 3 steps forward, so we stopped and looked again, as I was rubbing his neck and telling him how brave he was I accidently gave him a flick with my dressage stick (which I always carry with him).Well he walked straight up the road, had a bit of a look at the horses in the fields straight on for another 100yds and when we reached the yard entrance we turned around and came home... on the buckle end of the reins and feet out of the stirrups! What a good boy! ;D ;D

What an achievement, & brave Chompy! I know how you feel not being able to get to a certain area its been about 5 years since I've been able to hack Fire up the bit where there pigs live. I would desaperatley love to be able to go there again. Congrads tho! Me thinks you'll have an excellent Summer of hacking.

That's fantastic news Fi!! I'm so pleased for you. Was his fears of going past the old livery yard linked to Fig's death?
