Since having Kip he has come on leaps and bounds but iv noticed recentlt that the muscle on the right side of his withers has developed a lot more than the left which means that his saddle sits a lil crooked. He is ridden equally on both reins and it doesnt seem to bother him , but i would like to know if anyone knows of any exercises that target that specific area that i could work on to build him up, he does favour his right rein but is always asked to work correctly on both reins? any suggestions?

Try working a wee bit more on his bad rein but introduce an exercise on his good rein so he can learn it easier. You could also do stretches from the ground after turnout or exercise. www.horseandrideruk.com/RidingPositions.aspx?ID=50a5a612-d862-4c69-9f2b-ba47e8dc7b3fAnother idea that came to me was that maybe you are holding your reins unevenly and fixing one hand more than the other. If you put brightly coloured tape on you reins, it will help you to keep them even. It sounds a bit silly and childish but it might help.

the only thing i can think of is if you maybe sit to one side more, or when rising put more weight into one stirup. make sure you're balenced.

Which muscle is over developed- behind or in front of the wither?

I think its the one above the doltoid although it might even be that one as im not sure how far up to the withers that extends?, its just behind the trapezius?

Thats the triangular shaped one in front of the wither. does he tilt his head when ridden? He will be carrying himself unevenly possibly and probably from behind. If its quite pronounced Id get a physio/back speacialist to have a look at him both ridden and in the stable to check he is using himself correctly. Id also check his saddle fitting- if its nipping behind the wither he may be trying to shift the weight forwards. Look to establish the cause before you try too much to correct it as you may mask something that becomes a chronic problem later on! And please do a photo (unless Ive missed it on the photoboard) as from your avatar he looks so handsome and I love TBs esp ex racers (as I have one!)
