He did it
fox has never been a horse for going anywhere on his own and so i thought hacking out would always be a no go, unless someone walked in front or i found another horse to ride with. anyway i've been encouraging to walk from our stables down the lane to the house, without much success.
so got on him today to ride round the feild and instead of turning left to the feild he turned right towards the house, walked down the lane, did a small buck when i told him to wait while mum came out to see him. then i asked him to walk down the road, not very far and he did it. only problem was when i asked him to turn round he wouldn't, so i had to get of and drag him back. i still can't believe he's done it, to some it sounds a small thing, but when this horse has never done this in the whole 8 and half years we've had him it's amazing, (he used to be my dads, till dad gave him to me two and half years ago.)
I'm so happy with him, seems there's nothing he want do for me ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D so i'm off hacking now, just need to get my confidence up a bit, but fox is good in traffic, as although he wouldn't go on his own, mum and dad used to ride out together. plus he looks after me when we go round the feild am sure he'll do same on the road. we've always had to work as a team, as both me and him are to stubborn to let one be the boss. though i always get him to come round to my way of thinking

wel we went on our hack, didn't get to far, untill he wanted to go back, but i'll carry on taking him and pushing him to go further each time, am very pleased with him, he didn't do anything stupid or spook, he even went past a feild of horses without and trouble. the sheep in the farm yard he wasn't as sure about. you'd think a horse who's feild is surrounded by sheep wouldn't care, but he's not keen on them.
