I suppose this is the right area for Jump Cross? Earlier this year I got entrapped into being secretary of our local riding club. It is a very small club and as we are not organised around a yard or equestrian centre, we didn't do a lot and must of us just joined so that we would have the card to compete in R.C competitions. One member has show facilities and we occasionally did show jumping there but that was it. Some clubs organise loads of lessons and outings and are very social but our club suited me down to the ground. Anyway, since i've become secretary, its suddenly decided to be more active and for the first time are getting in involved (as a club) in national competitions. Plus we suddenly got new members and to be honest i am left with tons of work and have to go to meetings and things. But the latest is that one guy went and arranged for us to hold a jump cross so I am now trying to organise it. I did do a few jump crosses a year or so back but i went and got out the rule book today to check on whats involved. You have 5 showjumps and after you do them you immediately are on to a cross country course and once you finish it, you immediately are on another show jumping course of 5 fences. I remember from doing them that your horse gets such a land when you ask him to do cross country and its even harder to get him to shorten up for the second showjumping after the x country. It doesn't equal eventing but its good fun. However, I foresee a lot of work ahead because you have to have ambulances and doctors and vets there as well as getting volunteer fence stewards etc. So if anyone has any tips advice, I'd be happy to get them

I thought jump cross were cross country style jumps that fell down if knocked? www.jumpcross.com/sounds a pain to organise though either way, especially if you have a job as well

Yes, that was my original understanding of what it was when i went to my first jump cross but no it was I described above and that is what is in the rule book as well. I think it might be a difference between English and Irish Jump Cross perhaps?

That sounds more like an odd version of showcross to me? With the XC and the SJ?
Sounds good fun though, would love to have a go at something like that

I 've just read your post about winning your first sj on Chompy so I don't think those excuses are going to hold water!! What is he like x country anyway?? I think your jump cross may be different from ours but, if the same, just give it a go, its not scarey and its a great introduction for a novice horse.
