I have noticed that Brave seems to be getting more and more stressed recently, and little things that when I first got him didn't seem to worry him now induce spooks. Or as I am getting him fitter is this a natural response to the increased level of fitness.
I was also talking to my neighbour today who has recently put her stressy mare onto the naf magic supplement (high magnesium) as a calmer.
A lightbulb went off in my head as the farmer down the road said to me ages ago that he had had the soil tested and it was high in potassium and low in magnesium... could this by why every horse I get here goes loopy at least to start with?
perhaps its worth testing out on Brave get a magnesium supplement and see what happens, is it worth a try or do you think 2 months down the line he is still in the process of settling in?
Modified to add that he is fed Bailies Lo Cal balancer and Hi Fi Lite chaff as he is a good do-er and needed to loose a few pounds

Might be worth talking to the Naf helpline. (Remember how we HATED those adverts on the YH forum? ;D) On the other hand, shouldn't there be enough trace elements in the balancer?
But you are right, as he gets fitter and more settled, his behaviour will change!

magnesium is in all the calmers so I guess a would get more bolshy if the soil lacking in it (must get my own soil checked)- I don't think there would be magnesium in the low cal balancer (which I also use that think great). might be worth trying a magnesium supplement of some sort even if Brave is just going through his 'teenage' phase. I think as the horse settles, they know they are loved and then feel secure enough to er attempt stretch the boundaries a little!
