Just waiting for the vets to ring back about coming out as Funky murphster not's very funky this morning. He didn't come for his carrot and didn't want it when he eventually arrived, his eyes are listless and he is only picking at his hay in an 'I'm poorly mummy' sort of way. Bit of a temp (38.9) but nothing all that obvious to me wrong bar the eyes/temp/food so just waiting for vet to confirm when they will be coming.
Hopefully something and nothing but why does time pass so slow in these situations

Thanks everyone. Vets been, not sure himself as to the problem as apart from a raised temp (102 for vet which we worked out (via mobile phone) to be 39C, so about same as I got) and looking 'poorly' he has no other symptoms as his pulse, resperation, heart etc are all normal. He isn't exibiting any colicy symptons and he sounds okay so vet has pretty much ruled this out and thinks it may just be a bit of an infection he's got/generally feeling under the weather. He has had some antibiotics and a bute (or similiar) injection (and was a menace! : incase he's in pain and vet said it would help lower temp, and has antibiotics for a few more days in powder form for now. If he's no better tomorrow he is going to do some blood tests. He also asked about worming and said to give him a dose tonight just to rule this out as he about due another count anytime. He perked up when it was time for the needles and was his usual bolshy self and then went off for a bit of graze. Just now he was standing a bit space cadetish but he has eaten a bit of carrot (only when I broke the small slices into tiny 'poorly' pieces) and I have just left him having a little graze again so will just see how he goes on later/overnight and keep everything crossed.

Hi haff sorry he is unwell- hows he walking behind- any stiffness in the hocks? Seen a horse act similar when he got a bit of arthritis in his hocks- with all the wet weather could be feeling it? ? Just a consideration!

Travers presents his compliments to Murphy and hope that he will soon be himself again. It is awful when your horse suddenly comes down with something. Hope he is on the mend. Hugs to both of you. Wu

Thank you
He got really cold yesterday afternoon and was shivering badly when I went to see him after taking jadey out. Got a couple of rugs on him and he warmed up but Thought he was colicing...just very subtle symptoms...he just pawed the ground on a couple of occasions so vet came back out. Couldn't 100% say whether he was just starting or not ...nothing abnormal, no impactation or gassy builds ups as far as he could feel but gave him some analgesia (I think this was it anyway) incase and I ahve been up monitoring him most of night. Also he had to sedate him for the internal, due to his nasty habbit of kicking and his breathing got very rapid which cornced me but vet thought it was probably a mixture of stress/being ill etc. Once he started to come round it returned to normal thankfully.
Today, So far so good, he seems okay and has passed a couple of very small droppings (but hasn't really eat for best part of 24 hrs so not too concerned about volume at this stage) . Vet said he could have something to eat this morning if he was okay all night. His temp has gone down this morning to 38.4 and I took him a bit of alfa beet which he picked at and a handful of hay which i left him picking through and I'm going to give him his antibiotics (well try to!!) shortly and if he seems okay still let him out for a bit as he really hates being in and gets very stressed.

How stressful for you both. Hope he goes on getting better. Have a karma - although it will barely make a dent in your negative black hole!

Hi Haffy, hope he is feeling better?
Chompy had a similar thing last year, vet put it down to something he ate, he would stand in the corner of his box with mild colicy signs, then his temperature would rocket and his breathing went mental after his jabs, like he had just run the grand national. then he would shiver, I was out every half hour swapping from a cooler rug when he was sweating buckets to his HW rug when shivering.
It took a week for him to really start to feel better and I just took hiom out to graze in hand when I could, vet said to give him the nicest grass possible to get him eating again and it was the best thing for him.
Good luck and hope he is feeling better today

To Murphy, with every good wish for a speedy recovery. Hope you are feeling better, old man.
Healing vibes are sent your way from the real Wu, his brother Sir Menzies (we are Burmese, if you please), Travers and their faithful human servant, me.
Comforting hugs also to Haffyfan, who does so much for all of us. You are both in our thoughts.
Hoping for good news soon.
With much love from the home of Wu. XXX

Hi, he is much improved, Not totally better but recovering well (fingers crossed). His temperature is back to normal and he is eating again. He still has poorly eyes and is a bit lack lusture but is much more alert and interested in his surroundings than he was and I can actually sleep all night without checking him. Next hurdle is leaving him all day tomorrow as I must go back to work. Thanks for all your concern/messages
