I have uploaded on You Tube, a short video of Daniel being schooled on the lunge. Daniel, as all horses, has a soft and a hard side, to try and soften his hard side I lunge bringing him in on a small circle and then sending him out again, once on the bigger circle I canter him to loosen him a little and then back in to trot, bring the circle smaller and then out again, I do this five times on both reins. Alma, he is so amazing, I love the letting of steam at the end. So glad things are working out for you with him now. Can't wait til he's a superstar and his pics are plastered everywhere.

he is being lunged in a roller and draw reins, this mimicks the riders hands and encourages him to seek the contact but also maintaines the moveability for him to find his own balance
Thanks for your kind remarks

wow, Daniel is just gorgeous. I love the clip of him flying up the field - fantastic, it really made me smile. He can really move can't he!
I was interested to read (and see!) your method of softening up his hard side. I may try this with Moomin when I next lunge her in a few days. I lunged her tonight and I think we were both a bit bored of the standard circles and transitions - will give us something new to practice, so thanks!

I'm sorry but can you explain how you think the draw reins mimick the riders hands??
